Yikes! I haven't written in so long! But that's about to change, so stay tuned...
In November 2013, I got a full time job, which was a blessing (praise God!) because I was exhausted from commuting between two part-time jobs and I was frustrated because I wasn't earning enough money. Although I was relieved that my prayer was answered, I still struggled with other things: trying to heal from the end of a 6-year relationship, feeling like an outcast at my new job because I'm quiet and introverted, wanting to do well at this job and not wanting to mess up, feeling unsure of myself and my abilities, and not liking my personality.
During this internal struggle, I noticed how God would comfort and encourage me and I started keeping a blessings journal to record various blessings in my life.
2014 was an interesting but good year. I started becoming more confident and found myself doing things I never thought I could--doing a radio show with my friend Yvonne, purchasing a car by myself, doing a professional photo shoot, and becoming a published author. My relationship with God became stronger and stronger; I was able to hear His voice and He guided me in various situations (with assignments at work, cutting certain people out of my life, etc.). I was amazed at the things God revealed about the people He told me to walk away from. I thought these people were honest and cared about me, but they actually didn't. I admit, there were some red flags I overlooked but I'm glad that God loves me enough to warn me and protect me. I'm also glad that I listened because there's no telling how my life would be now if I'd gotten involved with the wrong people.
I'm expecting 2015 to be even better, especially now that I have God in my corner.
Here's what I want you to get from this:
1. Don't feel hopeless/discouraged if God tells you to walk away from certain people. It hurts and you may not understand it, but it's for the best.
2. God is always there by your side, lifting you up, encouraging you, etc. It doesn't matter what anyone else tells you. Only focus on what God tells you.
3. Pay attention to red flags/gut feelings. It's so easy to overlook them and think things will be different. Nope...that person is showing you who they are.
4. You can do anything through Christ who gives you strength. In all of my accomplishments, I can definitely say that God has given me the confidence to do certain things. He is working through me to make me a better person and He deserves the credit.
This blog is about a variety of topics: my relationship with God, writing, life experiences, current events, etc.
